At 2:15 p.m., police rushed to the Target on Research Boulevard after a shooting was reported. They arrived fast, within four minutes. When they got there, three people had been shot. Two died right away, and the third died later at the hospital. A fourth person was hurt but not because of the shooting.
The suspect is a 32-year-old white man who has a history of mental health problems. Right after the shooting, he took a car from one of the victims, crashed it, and then stole another car from a nearby Volkswagen dealership. Police caught him at 3:34 p.m. in South Austin by using a taser, and no one fired a gun. https://www.kut.org/crime-justice/2025-08-11/shooting-deaths-austin-tx-target
The victim whose car was taken was one of those killed. The suspect was on the run for about 75 minutes, driving around 18.5 miles across the city. He stole two cars during that time and was caught without police shooting at him. But strangely, no updates or radio messages have been shared about what happened during those 75 minutes. That silence leaves many questions. https://currently.att.yahoo.com/news/articles/2-dead-shooting-target-austin-203800795.html

Austin’s mayor called the shooting a “sickening, cowardly act of gun violence.” He thanked the police and first responders for acting fast. Target also said they were deeply sorry and promised to help their workers and the families affected. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2025/08/11/austin-texas-target-shooting-victims-authorities-investigation/85617969007/
One big mystery is that even though the suspect has a known mental health history, no online activity or social media posts have come out. There is no manifesto or warning signs online. If he was known to authorities before, why is there no clear record now? If someone erased it, who and why? This missing information makes it harder to understand what caused this tragedy and if it could have been stopped.
