Would Australia Survive In A Conflict With China?

By Talking Tactics with Mel Pikos

If China invades Taiwan, what would Australia do?

In this episode, Mel Pikos explores the high-stakes reality of Australia’s potential involvement in a war between China, Taiwan, and the United States. From our $325 billion trade relationship with China to our military alliance with the US and AUKUS commitments, Australia may be closer to conflict than most realise.

We break down:

What a Chinese invasion of Taiwan could look like

Whether Australia would be expected to join the fight

The impact on Australia’s economy, defence strategy, and global tech supply chains

The brutal truth about our readiness for war

With tensions rising in the Indo-Pacific, this is a conversation Australia can’t ignore.

Here’s what others had to say:

@magzie1126
Ex ADF Infantry Army soldier who has deployed. Guys we are fucked. We don’t have the capacity atm.

@Dragonfly8624
The host said the seize of Taiwan’s ability of producing advanced chip around 1:35 is one of the reasons that china want to take Taiwan. That exposes how ignorant this guy is. Since 1949, China has been saying that it is going reunify and take Taiwan, through peaceful way or by force, under the umbrella of One China. Was Taiwan producing advanced chip in 1949?

The first question I ask is what has Taiwan anything to do with Australia, didn’t Australia recognize Taiwan is part of China and there is only one China. China don’t invade it’s own territory. It is best for Australia to not interfere in the internal affairs of China and Australia will be peaceful.

@harpermcalpineblack8573
Throughout my entire life the official policy of Australia and the entire Western alliance has been that Taiwan is a province of China, not an independent nation, with assurances to China to that effect.

@TheKkpop1
US Military industrial complexes, MIC, don’t care if Taiwan would end up like Ukraine, win or lose.
What’s most important is whether MIC can make huge money in the process for wars.

@cedricwai7499
It’s best for Australia to stay out from the conflict between US and China. America’s protection of Taiwan is for its own benefits and gains, so it’s wise for Australia to stay neutral. Taiwan is a territory of China, so let’s them settle their own affairs.

@heylo6604
Australia is so simple minded, thinking democracy god is what they need to prosper while all businesses owned by only the rich and shareholders.

@davidcroucher8697
Chances are no we wouldn’t but, Australia isn’t looking for a war with anyone and if we ever are it’s because America have asked us to because America has shit to hang over our heads. This is why a lot of Aussie says ditch the US and manufacture our own defence and buy from people we can trust. China don’t want a issue with Australia either.

@fitbowun
You should point out that the US, Australia and nearly every country in the world recognises that Taiwan is a province of China and not a separate sovereign country. So it is up to the Chinese to work this out themselves. The US is using Taiwan as a pawn like Ukraine. Australia should absolutely not get involved.

@petermcdougall5291
Zero faith in our Australian leaders and true democracy, a real leader would have to rise like a Churchill figure as non of what’s leading us at present are capable……weak men taking back door deals thinking the Chinese would make them a governor of the new province…….thats how it feels.

@JoePitaias
Why would Australia drag into a conflict that is far away from its shores. Australia should protect its sovereignty rather than support a warmongering nation.

@wusangui3696
Yes, of course. Australians are super fighters. The have thousands of nukes and millions of fighter jets. Losing is an impossible dream.

@joekerr8334
Australia, do not get involved in any war with China.

@mooselee902
Bring all the Taiwanese people to australia, all their expertise etc, bring all the tech. And let china have its island.

@williamwilliam
Along with over 180 countries, Australia also accepts the one-China principle and recognizes Taiwan as part of China.
So, what the frk is Australia going on about joining in a U.S. led war with China over the island of Taiwan?

@emg12345
This video is superficial and you’re getting a down vote for it. Taiwan’s importance isn’t TSMC, it’s first island chain. Also, Australia’s role would be to blockade the Malacca Strait and deny energy and food reaching china.

@angelmelko
Australia stands no chance, just say something offensive and their feelings will be hurt. Also, Australia is not like the states where almost everyone has atleast 1 gun and knows how to use it. If a whole fleet were to sail to Australia, Australia would just watch.
