Senator Wong also handed over another $156 million for Zelensky.
Shortly after the war in Ukraine began in February 2022, the previous government, led by Scott Morrison, ordered Australian embassy staff to evacuate Kiev and relocate to “temporary” offices in neighbouring Poland because of the “increased risk”.
That arrangement continued under the Albanese government.
From next month Australian ambassador Paul Lehman and his staff, who had been working from Warsaw, will return to Kiev.
