Bezos Kills WaPo Kamala Harris Endorsement
The Amazon chief stepped in and ordered a drafted endorsement of Democratic nominee Kamala Harris to be pulled by the paper’s editorial staff, because he wants more conservative readers according to a New York Times report.
Former Washington Post journalist Sewall Chan suggested Bezos was hedging his bets out of fear his business interests could be harmed were Trump to win.
“What an insult to those of us who have literally put our careers and lives on the line to call out threats to human rights and democracy,” Post columnist Karen Attiah cried on social media.
The Washington Post has backed the Democrat’s nominee for the White House in every election since 1976 except 1988, when it endorsed nobody.
