Major Changes Under New Ownership: Marina Bay City Rebranded as Nesara Bay City, Lombok

By Jamie Mcintyre

A new chapter has officially begun on Lombok’s southern coastline following the acquisition of Marina Bay City by Lux Property. Under new ownership and management, the project is undergoing a complete transformation—starting with a new name, a new master plan, and a fundamentally different vision.

The development will now be known as Nesara Bay City, reflecting a decisive break from the past and a move toward a more grounded, environmentally integrated mini-city designed specifically for Lombok.

Out With the Old: Mega-City Ambitions Scrapped

Under previous management, Marina Bay City was marketed as a Dubai-style coastal metropolis, featuring dense urban zoning and proposed 30-storey towers.

That vision has now been formally abandoned.

Lux Property has confirmed that:
•High-rise towers are removed from the master plan
•30-storey buildings will not proceed
•Large-scale, artificial city concepts are no longer part of the project

In With the New: A Nature-Integrated Mini-City

Nesara Bay City is being re-envisioned as a low-rise, low-density coastal mini-city that blends naturally into Lombok’s landscape rather than dominating it.

The new direction prioritises:
•Architecture that follows the land, not flattens it
•Village-style precincts instead of tower blocks
•Extensive green corridors and open space
•Walkability and human-scale design
•A strong connection to Indonesian culture and coastal ecology

Rather than replicating Middle Eastern mega-developments, Nesara is designed to feel authentically Lombok.

A Clean Reset Under New Ownership

Lux Property has made it clear that Nesara Bay City is a reset, not a continuation.

Removed from the new vision:
•Dubai-inspired skyline concepts
•Oversized commercial zones
•High-density residential towers
•Urban planning misaligned with Lombok’s infrastructure and environment

In their place is a long-term, sustainable master plan focused on livability, environmental balance, and responsible development.

New Brand, New Official Website

As part of the rebrand, all official communications and project updates will be issued under a new digital identity.

The official website will be:
http://nesarabaycity.com

This will be the sole authoritative source for:
•Updated master plans
•Development staging
•Design philosophy
•Official announcements from Lux Property

The Road Ahead

With new ownership, a new name, and a completely redefined master plan, Nesara Bay City represents a significant shift in Lombok’s development narrative.

By rejecting unsuitable high-rise urbanism and embracing a nature-first approach, Lux Property is positioning Nesara as a future-proof coastal mini-city—one that aligns with Lombok’s environment, culture, and long-term growth.

Further announcements and design releases are expected via http://nesarabaycity.com in the coming months.
