The prosecutor had reportedly been shooting porn in the office and routinely sending the NSFW materials to his colleagues
A prosecutor in the Ukrainian Khmelnitsky Region has been dismissed for filming porn at work, posting it to OnlyFans, and repeatedly sending the NSFW materials to his colleagues, local media reports.
The now-former prosecutor, identified by the media as Anton Vendel, reportedly began sending explicit videos and photos of himself to his female colleagues this January. At some point, Vendel set up an OnlyFans account, published the pornographic content online, and then sent links to his creations to his co-workers.
The former official reportedly shot at least some of the offensive materials at the prosecutor’s office. Vendel’s superiors demoted him and sent him to a district office after receiving repeated complaints from his female colleagues, but it was only when the scandal became public that the official was fired for good, media reports indicate. It was not immediately clear whether Vendel has faced legal consequences for his conduct or got off with just a disciplinary discharge.
While making, storing, and distributing pornography is illegal in Ukraine, the country’s authorities have been considering lifting the ban. Proponents of decriminalization argue that the move would help the country fill its war chest with new taxes, as well as reduce the corruption rampant in the adult content-making industry. Ukraine’s parliament advanced a bill aimed at decriminalizing adult pornography in a first reading earlier this month.
Back in May, multiple senior Ukrainian police officials were detained on suspicion of regularly taking bribes from underground porn studios. The suspects, including Ivano-Frankovsk Region’s police chief and his deputy, as well as deputy chiefs from the Ternopol and Zhitomir regions, have been accused of accepting some $25,000 per month per studio in exchange for shielding them from law enforcement raids and other legal problems. The suspects were found to be in possession of roughly $510,000 in cash, as well as luxury cars and a collection of Swiss watches, the authorities said at the time.
