Sports Illustrated, a so-called sports magazine, appeared to chime in on the political controversy surrounding anti-White racism after Chicago Sky forward DiJonai Carrington executed a violent foul against the Fever’s Sophie Cunningham and later blamed “White privilege” for her ejection.
The outlet claimed in a story last night, following the incident, that Cunningham deserved it, describing the foul as a “bitter taste of Karma,” a clear nod to her recently speaking out against transgender participants in women’s sports.
Cunningham sparked a heated debate, starting with numerous coaches refusing to condemn the idea of men competing in the WNBA, and some even supporting it. It later led to ex-NBA stars declaring themselves for the WNBA draft out of irony, and the WNBA holding “listening sessions” to deal with the possibility of men joining the league under the guise of identifying as trans.
The star Indiana Fever guard was brutally attacked by the Chicago Sky’s DiJonai Carrington, who later revealed her anti-White motives in an X post following her ejection from the game, on Saturday. “White privilege,” she wrote on X, tagging the Indiana Fever.
Following the foul, the sports commentators were quick to note the severity of the “hard hit,” saying they would be “stunned” if it wasn’t upgraded.

The headline on a story from Sports Illustrated originally read, “Sophie Cunningham Got a Bitter Taste of Karma After Drawing Flagrant Foul in Fever-Sky.”
Outkick sports media founder Clay Travis pointed out the stunning display of leftist activism, commenting, “Sports media is broken.”
“It’s way more left wing than political media,” he added.

The second paragraph not-so-subtly mentions that “Cunningham made headlines for her comments opposing transgender participation in women’s sports as part of a recent ESPN profile on the Fever guard.”
It later points to her June 2025 foul against the Sky’s Jacy Sheldon, claiming it came “back to haunt her” in a subheading.
But the intention of the left-wing editorial was clearly to say that Sophie Cunningham deserves to be battered by other players for taking a stand against so-called transgenders, men who claim to be women, participating in female sports.
After outrage from the public, the headline now reads “Sophie Cunningham’s Enforcer Role Gets Reversed Onto Her With Hard Foul in Fever-Sky,” taking on a whole different meaning.
