It’s simple: Republicans have passed a CLEAN NONPARTISAN CR to keep the government open. Democrats rejected our CLEAN bill in favor of a blatantly PARTISAN one.
Their demands?
– Taxpayer benefits for ILLEGAL ALIENS [False]
– $50B CUT from rural hospitals [False]
– $500M for NPR and PBS [False]
For just 7 weeks of government funding.
Those might be priorities for left-wing Washington Democrats, but they’re NOT the priorities of the American people.

What’s false in Speaker Johnson’s claims
Democrats are not giving benefits to undocumented immigrants, they are not cutting hospitals, and NPR is not getting a windfall. The fight is about protecting Affordable Care Act subsidies and making sure Medicaid doesn’t collapse.
Johnson wants you to think Democrats are handing out healthcare to people who shouldn’t get it or destroying hospitals in rural areas. That is false. They are trying to preserve critical healthcare for millions of Americans who actually need it.
The story he spins falls apart when you look at the facts. The real battle is over ACA protections and Medicaid, not some made-up crisis he’s pushing.
Claims that Democrats are using shutdowns to reward illegals or gut rural hospitals are just not true. They don’t line up with reality at all.
Why Democrats’ shutdown strategy is still flawed
Turning the government shutdown into a tool to force new spending is dangerous. It punishes everyday people and twists a routine task into a political weapon.
If Democrats truly cared about keeping the government running, they could pass a clean funding bill and fight for extras afterward.
Dragging this out freezes paychecks, slows food aid, and damages small businesses. People suffer while the political fight rages, and no one benefits.
Bundling important policies into a shutdown fight makes Democrats look sneaky and tactical instead of responsible or serious.
