Not so say the innumerable lawyers in the Queensland Parliament, past and present. A home owner must only use equal force against an armed intruder and he would most likely be charged whatever defence he makes.

What if the 15 year old intruder has a large machete, which is a standard weapon of criminals in Victoria? What if the home occupant is over 60? Is he expected to defend himself with a steak knife? In the heat of the moment the owner does not have the luxury of deciding what is equal force.
A baseball bat would be a perfect choice but a firearm would give the home defender a much better chance of survival. What will he use? A gun of course, provided it was readily available.
Then he will find himself charged with murder or manslaughter to save his and his family’s lives. The result? In and out of court for years and he would have to sell his home to pay for it.
This is the conundrum the unintelligent lawyers of the LNP are unable to grasp. Castle Law would fix this uncertainty and keep the owner out of court.
