House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is threatening to expand and then pack the Supreme Court if Democrats regain power in Washington.

Jeffries used an address at the National Association of Black Journalists convention to attack the court’s 6-3 conservative majority as a “subsidiary” of President Donald Trump’s MAGA movement.

Asked what Democrats would do about the court, Jeffries suggested everything remains on the table.

“There are a variety of different options that are on the table, and I think we can’t foreclose on any single one of them,” he said.

Watch the clip below:

Among those options is expanding the Supreme Court and creating new seats that a future Democratic president could fill.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris has already endorsed increasing the number of justices from nine to 13.

Jeffries also expressed support for major changes to Senate rules, including ending the filibuster, which would allow Democrats to force through legislation if they controlled the House, Senate and White House.

The Constitution does not establish a fixed number of Supreme Court justices, meaning Congress could expand the court through legislation and allow a sitting president to fill the newly created vacancies.

A group of Democratic senators introduced legislation last month that would establish those limits and create Supreme Court appointments every two years.

Even if Democrats capture Congress in November, legislation would ordinarily require 60 Senate votes to overcome the filibuster.

President Trump could also veto any such legislation while he remains in office.

Trump has repeatedly warned voters that Democrats intend to abolish the filibuster and transform the Supreme Court once they have sufficient power.

Their “number one policy push is the complete and total obliteration of our great United States Supreme Court,” Trump warned last year.

The Supreme Court has infuriated Democrats with decisions including overturning Roe v. Wade and granting presidents broad immunity from criminal prosecution for official acts.

However, the court has hardly been a rubber stamp for Trump, recently ruling against his administration on tariffs and birthright citizenship.
