On Tuesday night, Republicans were trounced by radical Democrats in state after state.
Republicans, so far, have lost seven US Senate seats in the midterms with zero gains (as of 12:30 AM Wednesday morning).
Democrats flipped seven states, including: Iowa, Kansas, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas.
And they did it with some pretty awful candidates. Like how does this wormy guy Talarico, who likes group sex, win in conservative Texas with more votes than Kamala Harris received in 2024?
One thing we know for sure is that if Republicans had passed and signed into law the SAVE America Act that ensures fair and legitimate elections this could have been a different night.
Senator John Thune refused to push this bill through the US Senate. He said he couldn’t do it. Several brilliant pundits and attorneys said he could.
But Democrats were fortunate enough not to have to worry about voter ID’s or non-citizens or pretend people voting. Who was going to stop them?
RINO Senate Majority Leader John Thune then later warned that Republicans could lose control of the United States Senate, after he spent months refusing to use his leadership position to pass President Trump’s overwhelmingly popular SAVE America Act.
Thune admitted during an interview with South Dakota television station KELO in September that he was concerned about Democrats seizing the Senate in the November midterm elections.
“I worry about that, for sure,” Thune said. “I’m a realist, and I just think you, I don’t ever try and sugarcoat things. I think it’s a competitive environment right now. I think we got the highest-quality candidates.”
Democrats needed to pick up four seats to regain control of the Senate.
Perhaps Thune should ask himself why Republican voters are demoralized.
The SAVE Act is commonsense election-integrity legislation that requires documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, mandates voter identification in federal elections, and requires states to remove noncitizens from their voter rolls.
These provisions are overwhelmingly popular with the American people.
A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll found that 71% of registered voters supported the entire SAVE America Act, including 69% of independents and 50% of Democrats.
The poll also found that 81% supported voter ID, 80% favored removing noncitizens from voter rolls, and 75% backed proof-of-citizenship requirements.
But John Thune would not pass the bill. John knew better.
Senator Mike Lee responded to Thune’s interview by pointing to the obvious solution:

“If only there were a bill the Senate could reconvene to debate and pass—one supported by 80% of all voters that could unite Republicans, expand our reach, and help us win elections…
“Oh wait.”

Lee also rejected Thune’s claim that Republicans lack the votes to pass the legislation.
“John Thune is mistaken,” Lee wrote.
“We do have the votes to pass the SAVE America Act—because we have a simple majority.
“All we lack is the will to enforce the talking filibuster (requiring filibustering senators to speak), and to stay in session continuously until it passes.
“It’d pass.”

Article III Project founder Mike Davis also weighed in, accusing Thune of crushing enthusiasm among Republican voters and then acting surprised by the political consequences.
“John Thune refuses to pass the SAVE America Act, with the support of 80% of Americans,” Davis wrote.
“He has demoralized the Republican base.
“Then he acts surprised he may lose the Senate.”

Democrats must be sending Thune candies and flowers today.
