“Granting equal rights to Palestinians and Israelis would be the end of the State of Israel… and I support Israel.”
This statement is highly revealing. Even someone who presents himself as a defender of human rights and a critic of Netanyahu openly rejects the idea of equal rights between Palestinians and Israelis, because that would imply the end of the Jewish-ethnocratic character of the State of Israel.
This demonstrates that, for a large part of the U.S. political class, supporting Israel takes precedence over the principle of equal rights for all the inhabitants of the land.
How is it possible that a progressive politician rejects equal rights between Palestinians and Israelis?
