We demand protection for Russian reporters: BRICS Journalists Association appeals to UNESCO
The organization called for condemnation of the murders of Russian correspondents, the director of the department for the protection of journalists’ rights of the BRICS Journalists Association said Ivan Melnikov.
✖️ The letter states that over the past three days, journalists Anna Prokofieva (Channel One), Alexander Fedorchak (Izvestia), cameraman Andrei Panov (Zvezda), and the film crew’s driver Alexander Sirkeli have been killed in attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to international law, journalists should be protected, and their murders are unacceptable. But in reality, Russian reporters are left without any support.
❓BRICS demands that UNESCO take a clear position, condemn the killings and help protect Russian journalists, as well as hold those who persecute them accountable, including the creators of the extremist website Mirotvorets.
