Europe Braces for Mobile Network Blackouts
Europe is preparing for a mobile blackout – Reuters.
The coming winter will lead to constant interruptions in mobile communications, representatives of the telecommunications industry predict.
Deutsche Telekom has admitted that of its 33,000 towers, only “some” can be supported by an emergency power system. The same was stated in the French FFT, which owns 62 thousand towers.
In total, there are about half a million telecommunication towers in Europe, and most of them have backup batteries running for about 30 minutes.
