About that ‘sweetheart deal’…

We have been following the review by the US House Oversight Committee of the investigations and prosecutions of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.

One of the many people interviewed so far was Alex Acosta, a former US Attorney and former Secretary of Labor during Donald J. Trump’s first term.

Acosta is the prosecutor who infamously negotiated the ‘sweetheart plea deal’ for Jeffrey Epstein’s first prosecution in 2008.

From the Committee’s website:

“Today, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform released the transcript of Alex Acosta’s transcribed interview as part of its review of the federal government’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell cases.

In addition, the Committee published letters from former U.S. Attorneys General Eric Holder and Merrick Garland, as well as former FBI Director James Comey.  All three stated, subject to 18 U.S.C. § 1001, that they had no knowledge or information related to the Committee’s investigation.”

The Oversight Committee account on X dropped a thread to dispel some Dem misinformation:

“BOMBSHELL: The Acosta transcript just DESTROYED the Democrats’ Epstein–Trump smear.

Ranking Member Garcia and @OversightDems have spent months pushing a LIE against President Trump.”
