Lt. Col. Anthony Aguilar, a former Green Beret who was shot in Mosul in 2005, says the exercise rehearses something the Army hasn’t needed since 1953: fights so intense there’s no time to fly the dead home.

He explains what the training is for:

“If combat is so intense, large scale combat operations or high intensity conflict to where there is no time to recover your dead, so you bury them where they are.”

Aguilar says US bases already know how to run 90 days on their own, so the Pentagon announcing it is a message to Tehran, not a new capability.

Add the rushed order of battlefield ketamine wafers and the air defense launchers he says went up at Mar-a-Lago, and he reads it as a crew pulling on life jackets while telling passengers nothing’s wrong.

If he’s right, the plan Trump has signed off on assumes American casualties at a scale this country hasn’t seen in 70 years, and nobody in Washington has told the public that.
